Victor Stewens

Mr. Stewens was born in Germany where he graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. His professional life began at KWU-Siemens, a German nuclear plant designer, in the Quality Assurance department where he dealt with quality assurance manuals & programs, quality control on site and quality audits to providers of nuclear components.In 1987 he began his career in the re-insurance industry, within the Engineering department of Munich Re in Munich. A year later he moved to Mexico, where as underwriter he was in charge of engineering in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. In 1995 he returned to Munich in view of possible de-monopolization of the Brazilian reinsurance market. A year later Mr. Stewens opened the Office of Munich Re in Sao Paolo where he represented the company and its products for two years. In the beginning of 1998, Mr. Stewens had the opportunity to return to Mexico with Swiss Re in the department of Corporate Business to familiarize large industrial customers with Alternative Risk Transfer. Later, he started a portfolio of Larger Corporate Risks, and then, following a Merger & Acquisition, Mr. Stewens assumed responsibility for the Non-Life facultative underwriting for Mexico and Central America at Swiss Re’s offices in Mexico.

Due to changes in the company policy, Mr.Stewens relocated in 2003 to the direct insurance market with AIG Mexico, where he served for three years in charge of the department of Property, first being responsible for the Mexican market and later to a region.

In 2006, Mr. Stewens conceptualized the idea of a professional reinsurance underwriting operation located in Mexico. As a result, at the beginning of 2007, RISC was formed.

Mr. Stewens has given speeches, presentations and seminars on various technical issues in different countries of Latin America.

Heinz Peter Crain

Mr. Crain was born in Salzburg / Austria and obtained the degree in Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Vienna / Austria, and lives now for 35 years in Mexico where he began his career as Assistant Director of Engineering in Austroplan Mexico and later in Atlantida Mexico , participating in industrial projects in engineering for CFE, Pemex and other government industries and in the private sector, as ICA.

In 1985 started in the field of reinsurance with Munich Re, Mexico as Assistant Director of Engineering, where he was responsible for underwriting all lines of this branch. During the privatization of toll roads in the early 1990 Mr. Crain participated in introducing new concepts of coverage for such projects.

In 1999 he changed to Converium (ex Zurich Re), responsible for Engineering in Mexico, Central America, Latin America and the Caribbean. At this time he formed a team of 5 engineers and had the opportunity to visit Brazil and other countries of LA, like Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Peru, where he attended clients and large construction projects and installations.

Due to a change of strategy, Converium closed its office in Mexico, which brought Mr. Crain and his team to Reasinter, a well known local reinsurance broker. Thanks to his experience in engineering underwriting, his knowledge in risk prevention, claims adjustment, and risk inspections, he was instrumental in acquiring new customers in Central America and Caribbean.

In 2006 Mr. Crain joined RISC, contributing with his experience to the company's success.

Mr. Crain has given presentations and seminars in several countries of Latin America and forms part of the Engineering Committee of AMIS, the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutes.
